The DHS Screening Unit continues to operate during the COVID-19 response.
Working with children, disability services, aged care sector and vulnerable person-related checks done by the Screening Unit are continuously monitored.
The system helps reduce the risk of harm to children and vulnerable people by monitoring information that may affect a person's check status.
We receive information from a range of databases, such as SA Police and Department for Child Protection, which is automatically searched for any new information relevant to a person's check status.
For NDIS worker checks, we also receive information from other state and territory police and the NDIS Commission.
If the new information means a person's clearance status is changed or revoked, the person, the organisation that originally requested the check (if there is one) and relevant NDIS providers will be notified in writing.
